It is about Mrs. Polina Petrova. A few months ago, the Berkovitsa District Prosecutor’s Office charged her with a general crime.
This in itself may not be a problem for the trial against the Mityo Ochite gang – everyone is innocent until proven otherwise. The bad thing is that the jury accused Petrova in this case used the services of the lawyer Ivaylo Naidenov, and he is a defense lawyer for two of the defendants in the case against Ochite and company. There is a kind of conflict of interest.
For one reason or another, Polina Petrova and her lawyer were not notified on the SNS. Today, at a hearing in the case, a supervising prosecutor raised the issue: he called for Petrova’s removal from the court panel.
This was logically approved, which, however, required a restart of the process. Thus, all the interrogations carried out so far are annulled and the judicial process is resumed.
It is expected that in a few days a new jury will be appointed at random.
We remind you that the SNA process essentially started less than a year ago. Several witnesses were questioned, one of whom, Yordan Yordanov-Dancho Parqueta, even fainted in the courtroom.
A reboot means that procedural time will be lost. But it could have been much worse if, for example, the challenge had taken place at the end of the case.
According to the indictment, Dimitar Zhelyazkov’s group scammed businesses, spiced up with beatings and arson, mainly in the Sunny Beach complex, as well as in Burgas.
