The account that released the information is named after Michael Benson, a boxing specialist and editor of talkSport. The fake profile had more than 10,000 followers, six times less than the real one. They were distinguished by two letters exchanged when it was written.
This practice is popular on Twitter and is used to gain followers through fraud. Over the years, it has led to a number of high-profile transfers, injuries, and training shifts.
Hours after the post appeared, the fake profile was removed.
