We are at the far right of the project of armored vehicles for special forces. The news was announced by Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Krassimir Karakachanov after he and President Rumen Radev received the honor guard on the occasion of the military paratrooper’s vacation.

The contract is for BGN 50 million and the project will be signed before the end of the year. Armored fighting vehicles will be used to combat terrorism. The entire project includes around 150 machines for various purposes, reports news.bg.

In the special forces project, the equipment will be manufactured in Bulgaria by a Bulgarian company. Karakachanov hopes that in another year we will be able to manufacture airplanes and, for now, we will be able to manufacture ships and armored vehicles.

Karakachanov explained that the special forces were the first to react if some tried to create a war on Bulgarian territory. In recent years, efforts have been made to modernize and staff the special forces, the deputy prime minister said.

The Defense Minister is pleased that the staffing level of the special forces is the highest. When a military competition is announced for a position in the special forces, many people appear and the trend is positive for all types of armed forces, said the deputy prime minister.

Karakachanov emphasized that society appreciates the importance of special forces, special forces capabilities, and service is preferred by many men and women. A fourth group will be formed for special operations, infrastructure will be provided, but it must first be repaired.

Major General Yavor Mateev noted that a lot had been done for the special forces, as personal equipment, night vision devices and shooting equipment had been purchased. The projects continue next year, things are a reality and are being done now, General Mateev is satisfied.

“Special forces now have the opportunity to develop according to the best NATO standards, but also according to world standards,” he said.
