Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has announced that the total volume of gas Turkey has discovered in a field in the Black Sea is 405 billion cubic meters, the Anatolian Agency reported.
Erdogan, accompanied by Vice President Fuat Oktay, Finance and Treasury Minister Berat Albayrak and other officials, visited Fatih to inspect its hydrocarbon exploration activities in the Black Sea, BTA reported.
“Today we completed drilling activities in the Sakarya gas field, which we started on July 20,” Erdogan said.
According to the president, in the Tuna-1 field, reserves totaling 405 billion cubic meters of gas have been discovered.
“Our goal is to make this gas available to citizens by 2023,” he said.
In August, Erdogan announced that Turkey had discovered a 320 billion cubic meter gas field off the Turkish coast in the Tuna-1 area, where the Fatih ship operates. This was the largest quantity ever discovered in the country’s history.
A few days ago, the president announced that he would visit on Saturday, that is. Today the drillship will announce new data on natural gas deposits discovered by Turkey.
“As a result of the analysis and detailed work, we are adding another 85 billion cubic meters to the reserve already found,” said the president. “The deposits discovered in the Black Sea are the largest source of hydrocarbons in our country so far,” he said.
