Getafe beat Barcelona before “El Clásico” – World Cup – Spain

The meeting began slowly, safely in front of both doors. The hosts were the ones who stepped forward a bit more boldly, but again there were no interesting situations.

It was not until minute 20 that the Catalans created something more dangerous. Lionel Messi received the ball from the left side of the attack in front of the penalty area and tried a shot that, however, bounced off a nearby crossbar.

Nine minutes later, Messi crossed again from a static position, and Clement Langle stretched out his leg and caught the ball, but goalkeeper David Soria dived in and caught.

Shortly after, Mark Kukureya made a good breakthrough and tried to match up with Jaime Mata, who, however, slipped at the last minute.

On the counterattack, Antoine Griezmann received the ball and found himself alone against the goalkeeper, but fired over the crossbar.

Five minutes before the end of the first half, Alain Niom hit Messi in the face with his elbow and the referee ruled an infraction, but did not draw a card for the dangerous play of the defender. The resulting direct free kick was launched by the Argentine, but Soria dived and saved.

Ten minutes after the start of the second half, the hosts were entitled to take a penalty after Frankie de Jong fouled Jenne. The Dutchman attacked his opponent, did not stop in time and the referee awarded a penalty kick. Jaime Mata was in charge of his performance, which opened – 1: 0.

In the 62nd minute Ansu Fati and Felipe Coutinho appeared instead of Usman Dembélé and Pedri.

Two minutes later, Messi crossed and Gerard Piqué shot with his head, but over the crossbar.

In the 66th minute AnsuFati fell into the penalty area after a duel with Alan Niom, but the referee ignored the situation.

In the 78th minute, Mark Kukureya broke the center well and shot, but goalkeeper Neto caught.

Ten minutes before the end of the clash, the ‘Catalans’ coach Ronald Koeman made a new change, as Martin Brightwaite replaced Frankie de Jong. Griezmann left at Francisco Trinkao’s expense.

Three minutes later Brightwaite fumbled after an inaccurate pass, and Enes Unal immediately took out Kucho Hernández, who shot hard, but Neto touched the ball with his fingertips and it bounced off the crossbar.

A minute before the end of regulation time, Kucho Hernández again advanced alone against the goalkeeper, but this time his shot was extremely inaccurate.

In the fourth of the six added minutes, Messi controlled the ball well on the edge of the area and shot, but in an imprecise way.

In the closing seconds of the game, Gene missed an own goal after aiming for the crossbar of his own goal.

Thus ended the game, with a victory for Getafe.
