A 31-year-old Vienna resident killed her three daughters, Austrian media reported.
The woman later attempted suicide, but her injuries were not fatal, police said.
The girls were 9 and 3 years old, and the youngest was only 8 months old, the “oe24” website specifies.
According to initial data from pathologists, the children were strangled. Doctors fought for about an hour to save the life of the eldest son, sadly without success.

Investigators believe that the cause of the tragic incident was the separation of the parents. The children’s father has not lived with his family recently, according to the information portal.
The mother, who comes from Nepal, called the emergency number to say that she planned to commit suicide. The site was immediately located by specialists.
After arriving at the scene, police found two of the girls dead and a third was resurrected in an attempt to save her life, said police spokesman Paul Eidenberger.
The mother had injuries to her arms that were not serious enough to take her to hospital.
The woman was examined at the police station and must be questioned.
