Violations of traffic rules require immediate penalties. This was stated to BNT by Vladimir Todorov, president of the Association of Accident Victims.
In connection with the case against the driver accused of the death of journalist Milen Tsvetkov, Todorov commented on the danger that drugged drivers pose to society.
“My predictions are that this man will lie for at least 15 years,” Todorov said of the defendant Christian Nikolov, who was shown to be driving after using drugs when he caused the accident with Milen Tsvetkov.
“There are many cases where the passengers in the car die, not the driver who was drunk or high. My advice, especially to young people, is not to get into a car with a drugged driver ”, stressed the expert.
He showed glasses that reproduce the vision of a person under the influence of opiates. These glasses are already provided in the training of young drivers.
As president of the NGO, Todorov pointed out that the organization sends signals to the institutions that have the responsibility to guarantee road safety. In this sense, they must be uncompromising.
The inevitability of punishment and full control of offenders is needed to eliminate the risk of traffic accidents.
According to Todorov, sufficient drug tests should be obtained, especially in places where there are gatherings of many young people, as in Student City, for example, so that every second car can be checked.
Its condition and control are of great importance for road safety. There must be enough cameras and a unified system to process the collected data, Todorov emphasized.
