BAS Assistant Professor Andrey Chorbanov’s Forecast

“The prototype of the Bulgarian vaccine for COVID-19 will be ready by the end of the year. This means that it can be tested in real conditions. After this process, the administration will be in charge, which should outline the process of testing the preparation.” . This was stated in the air of “Hello, Bulgaria” by the head of the Department of Immunology of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Associate Prof. Andrey Chorbanov.

Another day with a record number of new infected with COVID-19

The specialist said that there is an increase in the incidence in our country, but it is not with the high rates of positive samples detected. Our country was in a period where it is purposely tested and the samples come from risk groups.

“The whole world has realized that it is very difficult to stop a respiratory disease that has already started. What world leaders count on is keeping controllable cases to a minimum. Today, all societies in the world are hostage to their health systems, “says Assistant Professor Chorbanov.

The serum will be analyzed in laboratory mice before administering human serum. A total of 1,200 animals are kept in the nursery of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. The place is absolutely sterile and the animals are kept at a temperature of 18 degrees. Rodent tests will last approximately 4 months.

“The mice will be between 80 and 100. They are absolutely genetically homogeneous, so we can be sure of the exact result, what exactly is happening with this type,” explained Prof. Assoc. Chorbanov. According to him, there is nothing surprising in the growth of those infected in our country and warned:

“Real patients are those who may or may not scare the healthcare system. Thank God, the increase in severe cases is much lower in growth compared to what we have as a total number of patients. We must expect an increase in people. This virus will not go away. This is not a seasonal flu. Until it goes through all possible carriers of the virus.

It takes almost 2 years of testing to see if the vaccine causes side effects in humans.
