On the 97th day of protests demanding the resignation of the government of Boyko Borissov and Chief Prosecutor Ivan Geshev, the initiators of discontent with the Poison Trio announced that four MEPs would join the so-called fifth “Great Uprising of the People”, which will take place on October 16 (Friday). For another night, traffic at Independence Square and Eagle Bridge was blocked, although few people joined the protest.
Shortly after 7 p.m., people began to gather in the space between the presidency and the Council of Ministers. Shortly after, speeches by protesters and members of the Poison Trio began on the makeshift rostrum.
Poison Trio lawyer Nikolay Hadjigenov announced that four MEPs would join the great discontent looming on Friday, but did not name them. Another main theme of the speeches was an action by the police in Blagoevgrad. According to the Poison Trio, the acts were handed over to citizens protesting the eggs thrown at the GERB and NFSB headquarters, as well as the action of the Speaker of Parliament Tsveta Karayancheva.
The Bulgarian anthem sounded around 9:00 pm, after which a procession began towards the Eagle Bridge. There, protesters blocked traffic.
