Property illegally acquired for an amount of more than 5.5 million BGN was confiscated in favor of the state following claims from the Commission to Combat Corruption and Confiscation of Illegally Acquired Property (CCACIP). The court decisions refer to a period of 10 months, between January and October of this year.
The total amount in all cases, which ended with convictions in favor of the Commission, amounts to BGN 5,689,330.30. 2018, and the rest are under the previous laws for the confiscation of illegally acquired property and property acquired from criminal activity.
Alexander Bozhkov, found guilty of usury, confiscated assets totaling BGN 216,484 with a final judicial act. He and his wife were also deprived of ideal parts of an apartment and several cars.
The Ruse District Court confiscated assets worth a total of BGN 102,081.89 from Atanas Paskalev. He was convicted of participating in a criminal group organized for property fraud, and the confiscated property includes a two-story house with a patio in Vetovo, cars and money.
Two properties in the city of Vetovo, a truck and BGN 74,509 were confiscated from Lyutskan Lyutskanov, accused of toll fraud. The court decision of the Ruse District Court has entered into force.
Amounts of BGN 126,114 were confiscated from Ivaylo Angelov, with a decision of the Veliko Tarnovo District Court, which is not final. A criminal case has been started against Angelov for telephone fraud.
The heirs of Yordan Tsonkov-Dzhiji finally confiscated property in favor of the state for a total amount of BGN 544,590. Judicial decisions belong to the Sofia City Court and the Sofia Court of Appeal. Apartments in Sofia, fields and meadows, cars, the BGN equivalent of company shares and quantities of expropriated vehicles are confiscated. The investigation against Tsonkov began after a criminal trial for tax offenses in especially large amounts.
Tsvetomir Donchev was deprived of property in favor of the state in the amount of BGN 466,122.53 with a final judicial act. The amount claimed by KPCONPI and respected by the court also includes 4 buildings, a car and money.
KPKONPI’s claim for the confiscation of assets worth BGN 399,917.88 from Dimitar Leonov, accused by the prosecution of possession for drug distribution purposes, was confirmed.
With an effective court decision from the Silistra District Court, properties worth BGN 755,086.27 were confiscated from Svilen Georgiev. The prosecution accuses him of smuggling minors across the border.
Sergei Georgiev confiscated properties worth a total of BGN 78,397.19 in favor of the state. He has a verdict of an Austrian court for pimping, the execution of which has been recognized in Bulgaria by the Municipal Court of Sofia.
The Yambol District Court has ruled to confiscate assets worth BGN 31,310.31 in favor of the state. The lawsuit is against Deyan Dochev, after human trafficking charges have been filed.
Rosen Stamov’s property for BGN 109,148.93 was confiscated by decision of the Burgas District Court which came into force. Stamov is accused by the prosecution of participating in an organized criminal group that stored and distributed cigarettes without special labels.
The Kardzhali District Court has ordered the confiscation of property worth BGN 192,872.89 from Hristo Rusev. KPKONPI’s investigation against him began after large-scale property damage charges were filed.
With an effective judicial decision of the General Assembly of Ruse, at the request of KPKONPI, Stefan Valchev confiscated the amount of 215,031 BGN in favor of the state. He was convicted of illegal banking and money laundering.
KPKONPI’s claim of the Veliko Tarnovo District Court against Ivelin Shishkov was also upheld. The total amount of the confiscated assets is BGN 683,193 and the decision has entered into force. Shishkov is convicted of human trafficking in Belgium and charged with money laundering in Bulgaria.
