Strong storm in the Rhodopes

A strong storm broke out in Smolyan. The material damage was caused by the hurricane’s wind, the lower floors were flooded and there are traffic difficulties in the area.

The disaster started around 8:00 a.m. and lasted 20 minutes. The wind has knocked down light structures, there are fallen trees and roof tiles. Some of the roofs have broken sheets. Other material damage was also recorded. There is no information on injured people.

In the villages of the Smolyan and Chepelare municipalities, there was a power outage for a few minutes, but it has already been restored, reports FOCUS.

In Smolyan, two roofs have fallen in Kaptazha district and there is no electricity due to fallen trees on Parvi Mai street.

In Madan, a strong storm flooded the basements of a block of flats on Republika Street, and crews were already working to drain the basements and clear the fallen trees.

There are also many signs on the roads in the area for fallen trees and stones, but there are no closed roads at this stage. There are fallen stones on the Stoykite – Shiroka Laka road, and fallen trees in the directions Starchevo – Nedelino, Smolyan Pamporovo and Batak – Dospat.
