The Bulgarian national team suffered their first defeat in their history against Finland, after ducking their heads as a guest of the rival in Helzniki with 0: 2. The Bulgarians had several good situations in the “Olympic Stadium” of the Finnish capital, but who knows how serious in front of the door of Lukasz Hradecki was not reached. So far, Bulgaria have not lost points to this rival, after seven matches in seven matches. Both of the Owls’ goals fell in the second half after Robert Taylor opened the scoring in the 52nd minute and Fredrik Jensen doubled a quarter of an hour later.

Thus, the “lions” continue to lose in the new campaign in the Nations League tournament and are in the last fourth place with one point and a goal difference of 1: 4. Finland is second with six points and one difference. of goals of 3: 1, and the leader is Wales with seven points, with whom we played in three days in the center of Sofia.

Our coach Georgi Dermendzhiev makes eight line-up changes for the Nations League game with Finland. The only three players to start over are Captain Vasil Bozhikov, Anton Nedyalkov and Kristian Malinov. Martin Lukov debuts with the national jersey, replacing Plamen Iliev. Strahil Popov and Kristian Dimitrov will replace Cicinho and Georgi Terziev, and Alexander Tsvetkov will play in midfield in place of Yanis Karabelov. Georgi Yomov, Kiril Despodov, Dimitar Iliev and Ismail Isa will play in place of Galin Ivanov, Todor Nedelev, Birsent Karageren and Bozhidar Kraev.

The first solid chance of the match was at our expense. After two minutes of play on the right, the ball was received by Despodov, who crossed Yomov into the penalty area, but the CSKA midfielder failed to finish off Hradecki’s goal. After five minutes of play, the Bulgarian medical staff had to enter the field after Kristian Dimitrov received a blow to the head, after which it was clear that there was an arcade. However, the Hajduk Split defender did not change.

After the first ten minutes, the game of the “lions”, who at that time were the most active of the two teams in Helsinki, impressed, trying to make a quick transition between defense and attack. The Finns, for their part, did nothing of value at Lukov’s gate. In the 14th minute Kiril Despodov made a foray down the right and crossed from the side into the penalty area from a difficult situation. The speedy footballer still found Ismail Isa, who, however, did not handle the ball well enough to attempt to fire a 7-8 meter shot into the goal of Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Lukasz Hradecki.

After a quarter of an hour, Martin Lukov made a spectacular rescue. Robert Taylor was completely alone in our penalty area after a quick counterattack by the hosts. Niskanen turned right toward Sparv, who immediately spotted Taylor. He controlled and fired diagonally, but with a magnificent save Lukov protected our door. Two years later, Lukov again made more than one solid save. Niskanen continued to harass Nedyalkov from the right and crossed to Puki, who fired from a few meters into Lukov’s goal, but the Bulgarian guard did not allow the ball to go to our door.

After 29 minutes, the home team were awarded a free kick. Dimitrov lowered his head to Malinov, who immediately followed for Dimitar Iliev. Bulgarian footballer of the year struck with his right foot from medium distance, but the ball went flying. Three later, Kamara passed Tsvetkov in the middle and saw Puki to the left. The Norwich star sent a ground pass to Niskanen, who shot with his left hand, but the ball flew over Lukov’s crossbar.

In the 37th minute, Kristian Malinov delivered a great pass into the hosts’ penalty area for Despodov. The wing of the “tricolores” took control of the ball from the air and turned in the penalty area, eliminating Arayuri. Toivio took a hit, but Hradecki caught him. Five minutes before the end of the first half, Poyanpalo shot with his head from a corner, but with quite a bit of imprecision. In the 43rd minute Yomov crossed from the left to Ismail Isa, who tried an aerial shot from a very difficult position and did not aim the ball so that Hradecki could catch again.

With the start of the second half Dimitar Iliev shot into Hradecki’s goal after a nice combination with Malinov, but the shot was off-target, and there was no one to catch the sharp ball from a Loko Plovdiv star. In minute 48, Isa crossed from the right, and defender Toivio tried to stop the ball, but instead received a blow to the neck, but Hradecki conceded. Dimitar Iliev was on his back in the Finnish penalty area and passed Yomov. He tried a kick with his right foot, but the ball went flying ingloriously. In the first serious attack of the second half, the Bulgarians conceded a goal. The defense allowed the hosts to center the ball slightly to the left, and there Puki headed towards Poyanpalo. He fired, but rather uncoordinated, but instead received a pass from the left to Taylor, who up close and completely exposed punished another annoying defensive error by the Bulgarian defense – 1: 0 for Finland.

A little later, our central defender Kristian Dimitrov stepped forward and crossed to goal. Georgi Yomov was there, scissoring Hradecki’s goal, but Arayuri blocked the CSKA midfielder’s shot with a body.

In the 67th minute, subsidiary Fredrik Jensen shone with a goal after the Bulgarian defense refused to attack him near the edge of the penalty area. The home team player made a very strong shot, but even Lukov’s attempt to deflect to the side did not help and the ball flew towards our goal a second time. In the 79th minute, Kristian Malinov technically turned to the edge of the penalty area and shot with his left foot, but the shot was light for Hradecki’s class. At the end of the match, the spectators at the Helsinki stadium saw nothing of value in front of both gates, and Finland took a slight win at home.
