President Rumen Radev and his adopted son Strahil Svilenski are good friends. This is what Strahill himself said in 2019 in an article in front of the student newspaper at Mount Mercy University in Iowa, United States. The interview was opened by the website fakti.bg a few days ago.
“I have a friendly relationship with him. We like to walk together and he is always by my side. He has a more friendly role with me, but I like it that way because it is easier to talk to him and ask him for good advice,” says Strahil.
He is the son of First Lady Desislava Radeva from his first marriage to BSP deputy Georgi Svilenski. In 2020, the president’s successor graduated in Public Administration from an American university.
The article, entitled “Volleyball Junior Faces Family Fame,” explains that before coming to the United States in 2016, Strahil lived in Sofia. The young man says he tried to keep his stepfather’s political position secret.
One of the reasons you enjoy life in America is because it allows you to get away from all the attention that goes with it. “I don’t think my stepfather is the president who defines me as a person. I prefer that people judge me for my achievements and failures. I have no credit for what he did, ”adds Desislava Radeva’s son. Strahil lived with President Radev for three years before leaving for the United States.
The young Svilenski also explains that he received a scholarship to play volleyball at Mount Mercy University. In front of the publication, he tells some of his dreams and wishes.
“I want to finish successfully and play for another year or two somewhere in Europe,” says Svilenski. He adds that he wants to enroll in a master’s degree in Europe and start his professional career.
As for his hobbies, the president’s son says they include watching sporting events, playing video games and hanging out with friends and teammates. “There is nothing special about me. I try to be a completely normal international student,” concludes Strahil.
The material points out that he started playing volleyball in eighth grade and has been doing so for eight years.
