I was the first in Bulgaria to be treated with remdesivir, said the director of St. Catherine Hospital.

I slept nine nights because I couldn’t go to bed. This was told to Nova TV by Professor Gencho Nachev, director of the St. Catherine Hospital, who suffers from the coronavirus.

In early September, he fell ill. He had no symptoms, but he tested positive. He is convinced that he was not infected in the hospital.

“I never had a fever, but I had a bad cough that prevented me from sleeping. At first they treated me at home, but my condition worsened and I was admitted to the hospital. I lost 13 kg, it was hard for me to walk and no. in the intensive care unit. There were people who drove it much harder than me. Here is the place to thank all the colleagues from the Infectious Diseases Clinic of the Military Medical Academy, who attended me for 14 days, “said Prof. Nachev.

He was treated with blood plasma by a doctor from the Military Medical Academy.

“I was the first in Bulgaria to be treated with remdesivir. After these five diffusions with it, things got better,” explained Prof. Nachev.

He said he was still getting back to the normal rhythm of his daily life before he got sick. “It’s difficult. With more effort, I still get tired,” said Professor Nachev.

“An unpleasant moment to live. For me it was a catharsis. Psycho-emotional state – from pain and suffering to feeling renewed and ready for life. While I was in the hospital I took stock – how many people did I help and did well, but and how much I have been offended. The most difficult thing is to fulfill what you promised: to be better, to control your anger, “said Professor Nachev.

He is convinced that in times of pandemic, personal responsibility for compliance is extremely important.

Regarding claims that there is no such virus, Professor Nachev said: “There are many philosophers in Bulgaria. Everyone understands politics, medicine, football. But no one is protected.”
