In 1825, members of the rowing club at St. John’s College, Cambridge, appeared in a new type of outerwear, which was called a blazer. According to another story, the first appearance of this type of jacket was in 1837, when the captain of the British frigate HMS Blazer dressed his sailors in navy blue clothes with gold buttons on the occasion of the visit of Queen Victoria. She was delighted with her look and the blazer quickly became popular. Now it is used as a uniform in various schools, airlines, railways, banks, government agencies. But it is also a successful outerwear garment, featured this fall in the collections of most of the leading designers.
One of the reasons for the popularity of the blazer is that it can be worn with any type of clothing. Combine with jeans, sports pants with sneakers, with charlestons. At the same time, it looks extremely elegant, added to an elegant evening dress. A good option is to add it to the business suit. And while in the past the blazer was made of thick fabric, because it was important to protect it from the wind, today the fabrics are quite diverse. They are made of fine wool with cashmere, tweed, boucle, and even denim, leather and satin.
The usual notion of outerwear is in navy blue with metal buttons, but even that is a thing of the past or present only on uniforms. Blazers can be plaid or wet in black, gray, brown, white, pink, red, etc. Depending on your personal preferences, you have a wide variety of types of bras: single-row, two-row, with only one or three buttons. Although not typical of these outerwear, some are fastened with a belt and the length is up to the waist or mid-hips.
