From today until October 15, the Traffic Police will carry out a “Speed” operation on all the country’s highways, the Interior Ministry announced in an information session. The 6 new super cameras will be used to detect dzhigits. These technical means are used in large regional cities and in those with the highest concentration of fatal accidents.

These are Ruse, Lovech (where there have been a lot of serious accidents), as well as Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna and Burgas. Modern supercameras came into use earlier this week. Since then, more than 500 dzhigits have been detected in the capital and more than 1,500 throughout the country. The Traffic Police explained that the new devices are extremely accurate and monitor traffic on 6 lanes in both directions.

They detect both speeding and unpaid liability insurance. Cameras can also detect up to 16 violators at a time and record all traffic flow. Other cameras available to traffic police will also be placed on both major roads in the country. , where speed limit violations are most frequently committed and in places with the highest concentration of accidents.

The reason for the greater control for drivers who accelerate is precisely the great danger that this infraction generates. Most of the time, serious accidents are caused by flying on the highway. The Traffic Police called on drivers to be more careful on the road, as we are entering the autumn-winter season, which implies more moisture on the pavement, in addition to icing.

Due to the deterioration of the road conditions, there have been 200 accidents in the last two days, 130 of which were serious. Five died and more than 37 were injured. In September, 11,232 violations were identified in the capital and fines of BGN 1.9 million were imposed. With one of the new cameras, a driver was detected at breakneck speed on the Sofia ring road. The offender was driving at 216 km / h.

“Tokens worth 180,000 BGN have already been paid out,” said Commissioner Martin Tsurinski, head of the Traffic Police Department. The record holders are on the Ring Road. However, there are violators at all crossings. During the day, a car was detected moving at 151 km / h on Istoriya Slavyanobulgarska Blvd., another at 145 km / h on Tsarigradsko Shosse and 131 km / h on Botevgradsko Shosse. The situation with offenders at night becomes even more serious. So most of them are on the ring road. Cars moving at about 200 km / h are regularly detected.
