The health system in Bulgaria can withstand 500 new cases of coronavirus per day for a long time. This was stated to Nova TV by the state’s chief health inspector, Angel Kunchev, on Friday. Hours earlier, a record 516 new infections were reported.

There will be critical situations

We can last quite a long time, because even with these 500 boxes a day we have a designated bed occupancy of 14-15%. In other words, we still have a huge reserve. But this does not mean that in some places there will not be critical situations in which a large number of patients suddenly accumulate.“Kunchev commented. According to him, this is the current situation in Burgas and, to some extent, in Blagoevgrad.

Kunchev explained that about 20% of those infected need medical help and about 5% of the hospital is admitted to the hospital. At the moment, the operational headquarters believes that a radical change in the measures is not necessary.

I begin to think more and more that it is not about putting new and new measures, but about implementing the ones you have ordered, because if we continue not to implement it, we will gather en masse, not wear masks, not keep our distance. and disinfection, whatever new measures we impose, the effect will not be goodKunchev said.

Only one option is discussed for restrictions for older people who are among the highest risk groups. However, this measure is currently only being discussed.

Third day registration

For the third day in a row, a record number of new coronary virus infections were recorded. During the last 24 hours, 516 new cases have been identified and 5209 tests have been carried out. So far, in Bulgaria, not so many positive samples have been recorded on a daily basis.

Along with the increase in new infections, the number of hospitalized is also growing. There are currently 1,066 people in hospitals, that is, another 33 patients were admitted during the last 24 hours. 56 people were in intensive care units 53 days earlier.

The majority of cases continue to be registered in Sofia: 138. Plovdiv follows with 51 positive samples, Blagoevgrad (49), Burgas (31), Varna (25), Sliven (21) and Stara Zagora (20).

115 people were cured in the last 24 hours. The dead are 7. With them the total number of victims is 880.

The record number of new infections comes just one day after the Minister of Health, Kostadin Angelov, assured that the situation in our country is under control and that it is not necessary to introduce new anti-epidemic measures.
