Bulgaria says goodbye to the dream of qualifying for the European Championship after Hungary’s 1: 3 in Sofia.

The dream that the “lions” could reach the death group of the European final with the participation of Germany, France and Portugal was killed by the Hungarians, who will continue their mission to play with the superpowers, with matches in Budapest.

Bulgaria played well and created situations, but also scored easy goals, with the Hungarians scoring out of the blue to win the battle in front of a few thousand spectators in the rain above the “Vasil Levski” National Stadium. Bulgaria last played in the final of a major championship in 2004 in Portugal. Now you will see on television how the Hungarians host Iceland (Romania won 2-1) in the final playoff.

Hungary took the lead after a corner kick and a chest goal from Willy Orbán in the 16th minute.

Excellent saves by the Hungarian guard kept the guests ahead, and instead of a draw, just after the start of the second half Kalmar scored to 0: 2.

In order for the Bulgarians to be complete, following a penalty awarded by judge Shimon Marchinyak, while Todor Nedelev prepared to execute from the penalty spot, the VAR system showed that the offense was on the edge of the penalty area and the 11-meter penalty was annulled . And after Kraev’s free-kick shot, the ball flew over the crossbar.

In the 75th minute, Nikolic scored the third goal for the guests.

In the 89th minute, Georgi Yomov scored an honor for Bulgaria – 1: 3.

Bulgaria created the first dangerous situation in minute 2. Galin Ivanov was fouled. Todor Nedelev fired, but over the door.

In the 16th minute, after a cross from a corner kick, the ball deflected into Orban’s chest, who was brought down by Vasil Bozhikov, and entered the net behind Plamen Iliev. The regularity of the blow was checked through the VAR system, which confirmed – 0: 1.

Even with the performance of the center, the “lions” launched an attack. Todor Nedelev fired a cannon shot, but the ball flying under the crossbar was pushed into a corner by goalkeeper Gyulachi.

In the 25th minute Bozhidar Kraev was met with a long pass, dropped the ball with his head to Galin Ivanov and followed by a volley. Through the door.

However, Galin Ivanov was pulled in the thigh and had to leave the field, being replaced by Georgi Yomov.

The Bulgarians continued to attack. In the 38th minute Anton Nedyalkov crossed perfectly from the left. Todor Nedelev fired his head off the back post into the lower corner of the Hungarian goal, but luckily for the guests the ball hit jumper goalkeeper Gyulaci’s leg and missed the net.

An exceptional Bulgarian attack in the added time of the first half miraculously did not end with a masterpiece. In the high-speed action, Nedelev brought Cicinho, who immediately shot into the penalty area, Bozhidar Kraev played with a fifth, but Gyulachi deflected the ball again and went over the crossbar – just a corner instead of a handsome naked a new bad luck for the “lions”.

The second part started a nightmare for the Bulgarians, even before they thought to continue with the same enthusiasm as the first. Kalmar shoots from a direct free kick from about 25 meters. His shot went to the ground, there was a deflection from the wall, but goalkeeper Plamen Iliev did not intervene in the best way and saw how the ball tangled in the net behind him – 0: 2.

In the 55th minute Bozhidar Kraev ran away and was brought down by Adam Lang, who received a yellow card, and the referee awarded a penalty. Nedelev was already considering where to shoot when the VAR stepped in and took the infraction out of the penalty area. Kraev couldn’t find the arc of the free throw.

Immediately afterwards Kiril Despodov appeared in the game in place of Karagaren.

In the 71st minute, Georgi Yomov passed in front of the Hungarian defenders and from a position with his back to his goal created an opportunity to shoot. The ball flew past the goal.

A little later, Despodov was pushed after an invasion of the penalty area, but both the judge and the VAR stood their ground, without penalty.

In the 75th minute, two Hungarian reserves finally decided the match. Hangya’s center from the left and defender Nikolic scored the third goal for Hungary.

In the 89th minute, after a pass from Ismail Isa, Georgi Yomov scored the goal of honor for the final 1: 3.
