The European Parliament passed the critical resolution on the rule of law in Bulgaria, reported by “24 hours”.

Although the document is not legally binding, it is expected to be taken into account together with the first EC report on the subject last week under the EU’s general rule of law mechanism.

Some EU members insist that you provide for the suspension of European funding if you show that there is a violation of these principles in one of the EU countries.

The resolution was approved by 358 votes in favor, 277 votes against and 56 abstentions. 691 MEPs participated in the vote.

Your final vote is due this afternoon.

The document informs significant deterioration of the rule of law, democracy and fundamental rights, including the independence of the judiciary, the separation of powers, the fight against corruption and freedom in our country. It was drawn up by Juan Fernando López Aguilar of the Socialist and Democratic Group (S&D) and president of the PE Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE).

We remember the European Parliament today rejected the amendments for the president in resolution.

Yesterday the text on Vasil Bozhkov, whose case was described without mentioning his name and in which it was alleged that the businessman financed the ongoing protests, was withdrawn by the petitioner, the MEP of Malta, Roberta Mezzo.
