Azerbaijan claims to have destroyed a column of Armenian armored vehicles during the fighting in the secessionist Nagorno-Karabakh region.
The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry clarified that Yerevan tried to move the column during the day, but was subjected to Azerbaijani artillery bombardment, reports “Sputnik”.
The military did not provide details on where the alleged column went or where it was hit by artillery, but released a video claiming to show that the column had been destroyed.
The shots show the least a dozen vehicles, probably tanksapparently standing in an unfamiliar location before the projectiles started hitting them. It is not clear from the video how badly the armored vehicles were damaged or if the entire column was destroyed.
Since the armed conflict in the Nagorno-Karabakh region erupted once again on September 27, both Armenia and Azerbaijan have regularly posted similar videos, said to show successful military operations and attacks on enemy forces.
Baku has said that it has launched a counteroffensive in response to alleged attacks by the Armenian army on the Nagorno-Karabakh front line. Yerevan later accused Azerbaijan of bombing the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in the Nagorno-Karabakh city of Shusha, injuring civilians, including journalists, although Baku denies the allegations.
