If this level of COVID-19 distribution is maintained, our health system will not survive. This was stated to bTV by the national consultant in invasive cardiology, Prof. Ivo Petrov, after some hospitals are already experiencing difficulties.

The last two days I had three patients who told me they had logged hours, but due to the situation with COVID-19 they did not come, said Professor Petrov and highlighted that a similar problem has already been reported in world statistics and now it is reaching us . namely, complications in patients due to delay. Postponement due to fear or delay of the team due to diversion of the resource.

Unfortunately, we are negligent, including an emergency cardiovascular condition due to COVID-19 causes. This leads to an increase in mortality, said Professor Petrov.

Cardiology wards have been closed in Bulgaria since March to care for COVID patients. And patients who don’t know come to a hospital whose cardiology ward has been converted to a COVID ward and have been reassigned, Prof Petrov explained.

Only now are patients with lung and cardiovascular problems beginning to return to a normal way of behaving with regard to morbidity, said Professor Petrov.
