BSP deputy Prof. Ivo Hristov refuses to resign, after the Youth-GERB demanded it today for his observation that the Bulgarian population is childish.
Personally, the chairman of the ruling party’s youth organization, Georg Georgiev, who is also deputy foreign minister, gave a briefing announcing that Hristov has no moral or political right to represent the people in parliament. He pointed out that it was a humiliating relapse, after the left-wing MP said three years ago that “80% of Bulgarians are idiots” and then also refused to resign, and his party colleagues supported him.
Today, in response to the GERB youth, which was also supported by the youth at UDF, Ivo Hristov told bTV:
“I was not elected by the GERB youth, but after democratic elections. I recommend that my colleagues read the Constitution, to whom and under what circumstances does a deputy resign. I owe responsibility to my constituents, not to the GERB youth. “
And his same observation on the morning television block was:
“It is fascinating that this Bulgarian characteristic is voting for another savior, without knowing what is inside as content. As we have said, 30 years ago we were ruled by Dad, then the Commander came, then Grandpa came, and now Batze. The next one should be something like this again: exercising parental supervision over the Bulgarian child population“.
A reaction is also expected from the BSP and personally from its leader Cornelia Ninova, whom Georg Georgiev called to say if he supports these words.
