“The basis of our foreign policy must be the national interest. Bulgaria has an interest in fighting corruption, being a country in which there is freedom of expression, the rule of law and the separation of powers. In this regard, the resolution on Bulgaria, that the EP will deserve admiration and support tomorrow. It is a true assessment of Borisov’s corrupt government, but the resolution contains disturbing texts that criticize parties and politicians in parliament who do not support the Istanbul Convention and recommend that Bulgaria find a way to ratify it. The BSP does not support the convention and has seriously contributed to preventing a vote in the Bulgarian parliament. ” This was stated by the leader of the BSP, Cornelia Ninova, in a position published by the party’s press center.

Ninova will propose to the left-wing Bulgarian MEPs, despite the resolution initiated by Elena Yoncheva, to support the texts related to the rule of law, the fight against corruption and freedom, but not to support the texts on the Istanbul Convention, of in accordance with the Constitution of the Republic of Bulgaria and the national interest of our country.
