The president of the United States, Donald Trump, left the Walter Reed Military Hospital in the state of Maryland, where he has received treatment for COVID-19 since Friday, and went to the White House, where he will continue his recovery, world agencies reported, reports BTA.
Wearing a protective surgical mask on his face, Trump descended the stairs of the medical center and gave a thumbs up before getting into a black car and then a helicopter heading to the White House.
Shortly before leaving the hospital, the president tweeted that he would soon return to the election campaign.
In a video message, Trump asked Americans not to be afraid of the pandemic and to take to the streets after arriving at the White House from the military hospital, where he was treated for COVID-19, world agencies reported.
Although his doctors say he is “not fully recovered yet,” Trump appeared without a protective mask in the video, Reuters notes. As soon as he arrived at the White House, he took off his mask in a demonstrative way, against the rules of the health authorities. Trump greeted reporters for the presidency, but did not respond to their questions, only saying, “I feel good.”
“Don’t be afraid (of the coronavirus). We will defeat it. We have the best medical equipment, the best drugs,” Trump said in a video message. “Don’t let him take over your life, come out, be careful,” he added.
A special secluded room has been prepared in the White House, in which Trump will be able to work upon his return from the hospital, CNN reported, quoted by TASS. The president will use the office on the third floor, as well as several rooms adjoining the office of his doctor, Sean Conley. The place has a reception and office for patient examination. Everything is arranged for Trump to work further away from the West Wing, where the President’s Oval Office and the offices of his closest aides are located.
