The European Parliament is debating today the “significant deterioration of the rule of law, democracy and fundamental rights, including the independence of the judiciary, the separation of powers, the fight against corruption and freedom of the press” in Bulgaria. The resolution on the issue will be voted on on Thursday, after it was approved by the Civil Liberties Commission (LIBE) last week.
Protest figures are prominent in Brussels. Among them are Prof. Velislav Minekov of the Poison Trio, as well as the leader of “Yes, Bulgaria” Hristo Ivanov.
The poisonous trio posted photos of what Prime Minister Boyko Borissov is doing while Professor Velislav Minekov is holding informal talks with MEPs in Brussels regarding today’s debate on the rule of law in Bulgaria. The Prime Minister diligently kicks a ball at the Dianabad complex in Sofia.
