Antiviral masks repeated by an Israeli company coated with zinc oxide nanoparticles that kill bacteria, fungi and viruses could be a major barrier to the spread of the coronavirus, the Jerusalem Post reported.
SonoMask has demonstrated an ability to neutralize the novel coronavirus with an efficiency of 99.34% in studies conducted by the internationally accredited ATCC testing laboratory, the Ramat Gan-based Israeli manufacturer said.
Results from the latest round of testing showed that the mask has the ability to neutralize drooping traces of SARS-COV-2 within 30 minutes of contact with tissue. SonoMask has also been shown to maintain its protective properties during the 55 wash cycle, reports DarikNews.
“Following this outstanding result, we can now assure the public that our SonoMask is working continuously, continuously and rapidly to neutralize the spread of COVID-19,” said Joshua Hershkovichi, CEO of Sonovia.
“We are proud of our latest achievement, which will help people feel safe and protect their loved ones, while remaining the greenest option in the personal protective equipment market,” he said.
