Japan’s most famous fashion designer, founder of the global brand Kenzo, died in Paris on Sunday after being defeated by COVID-19, a spokesperson said.
Thus, the first Japanese designer to gain popularity on the highly competitive fashion scene died at the American Hospital in the French capital.

The fashion genius was 81 years old. His death came 50 years after he launched his first collection in Paris.
He retired from fashion in 1999, six years after selling his eponymous fashion brand to luxury conglomerate LVMH, and devoted his time to one-of-a-kind projects, including a designer collection earlier this year.
Takada came to France from his native Japan in 1965, arriving first in Marseille before heading to Paris.

Kenzo created his first women’s collection in 1970, his first men’s show in 1983, and his first perfume, “Kenzo Kenzo”, in 1988.
