When we announced the introduction of the draft new Constitution and the restart of the political system, as announced by our leader, Mr. Borissov, not only in his capacity as Prime Minister, we expected that everyone would hear a sentence that he said at the end of his speech: if 160 votes are gathered to convene a Grand National Assembly, he will resign the next day. Now I’m a bit surprised that the main opposition forces in the National Assembly don’t seem to want this to happen anymore. This was said by the GERB deputy, Desislava Atanasova, on BTV.

“I hope that the extra-parliamentary political forces do not reject the dialogue, because part of the demands, even from the people of the protest, are the proposals in the reforms to the Constitution that we have presented,” he commented.

Since yesterday, Desislava Atanasova also chairs the Temporary Investigation Commission for the draft of the new Constitution.

“And yesterday I said that I intend to start the creation of a council of experts, which will be of proven legal and constitutional authority. Next week I will probably release the names. Not all have confirmed my participation,” he added.

He noted that he would also invite the president of the 39th National Assembly and the acting prime minister and lawyer, Professor Ognyan Gerdjikov, to the expert council.

“The Constitution affects all spheres of public life. I hope that the non-parliamentary political forces do not reject the dialogue, because part of the demands, even from the protesters, are the proposals for changes to the Constitution that we have presented. I am aware of my responsibility. “I am responsible not only because GERB is the initiator of the draft of a new Constitution, together with its partners, but also because the criticism is great. I expect a dialogue and I will seek that dialogue, “Atanasova added.
