On Thursday, an investigator clarified his accusation and the investigation has now been completed. Christian is accused of deliberately crashing into Tsvetkov’s car and causing his death. For such a crime, the law provides up to 20 years in prison or life imprisonment.
Milen Tsvetkov’s car was crushed by Christian’s car shortly after 6 p.m. on April 19 at the intersection of Henrik Ibsen Street and Cherni Vrah Blvd. in Sofia.
As he approached the intersection, at a red light, Christian did nothing to slow or stop, experts said.
At the same time, there were many more people on the road and in the intersection area: drivers and pedestrians. Camera footage from nearby buildings showed the intersection was crossed by six people who were inches from Christian’s car. According to the prosecution, they were miraculously unharmed.
The young man has been in custody since April 19. Despite several attempts to release him, the court did not release him.
Today, the lawyer for Milen Tsvetkov’s son Boyan, lawyer Menko Menkov and lawyer Nadezhda Kovacheva, representing the journalist’s daughter Kalina, will get acquainted with the evidence in the case. The two children will intervene in the case as private prosecutors.
On October 6, Christian and his lawyer Lyubomir Takov will read the evidence. After reviewing the experience and questioning, the attorneys will decide whether to request further evidence.
In case they do not have them, the case goes to the prosecution, where the supervising prosecutor will write the accusation against Christian. It will then be sent to the Sofia City Court (SCC) to schedule the pre-trial hearing.
