Will the cooperation and verification mechanism for Bulgaria continue to exist? The response of the Vice-President of the European Commission Vera Yourova after today’s presentation of the report on the general state of the rule of law in the EU and the reports of each of the member states is ambiguous.
“We still see unfinished business, various reforms are underway. We have very intense cooperation between the EC and the relevant experts. Bulgaria must do more to complete the tasks set out in the recommendations. The idea in the future is one day the mechanism. of cooperation and verification to approve this report on the rule of law, ”Yourova told BNT.
At the same time, when asked if there will be an upcoming report on Bulgaria under the cooperation and verification mechanism, he replied: “It depends on how Bulgaria will address the recommendations.”
Bulgaria will be among the first five countries to be discussed at the EU General Affairs Council in November. Then the EC report on the rule of law, presented today, will be discussed.
