The 50th anniversary forum started with measures intensified by coronavirus in Pavilion 1 of the National Palace of Culture

Sergei Stanishev and Georgi Pirinski assumed the leadership of the 50th Congress of the BSP, which began at this time in Hall 1 of the National Palace of Culture. As this is a jubilee congress, the proposal was that all former party presidents, red prime ministers and heads of parliament sit in the rostrum. The decision was supported by a large majority of 752 delegates.

The proposal was for Mihail Mikov to join the leadership as a former party chairman, but he personally refused to participate. I will not give reasons, they are clear, said Mikov.

The Pernik delegates proposed that the mayor of the city, Stanislav Vladimirov, be included in the leadership of the congress, and this too was accepted.

The congress was opened by the leader Cornelia Ninova.

976 delegates were chosen for the forum, 793 of them were registered until the beginning, as Ninova explained that bad weather delayed the reds of Lovech, Vidin and Montana.

The congress is being held under reinforced sanitary measures due to the coronavirus. The delegates sit in a seat, but despite the organizers’ warnings, no more than half are wearing masks.

More than 500 are the guests of the forum: diplomats, mayors, intellectuals, deputies of the Great National Assembly and the current parliament.
