The Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) expects elections in Bulgaria very soon. “Holding parliamentary elections is a matter of one or two months,” predicted party deputy Halil Letifov.
“The elections are knocking on the door and we are already in a campaign period, it is a matter of one or two months,” he said.
By law, regular elections will be held in March and for almost 80 days there have been daily protests in the country demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Boyko Borissov and Chief Prosecutor Ivan Geshev.
He also commented on the MRF’s request for a cabinet of experts: “This cabinet of experts must be anti-crisis. This cabinet must provide several things in the short term. It must be an expert, relevant experts in the relevant areas must be involved and in very short time, until the construction of the next National Assembly to be able to outline the framework and do enough work for them to first agree on the conditions for the effective absorption of funds related to COVID-19 from one camp and the other, in relation to the plans for the absorption of funds for the next programming period that are linked to the green deal ”.
Letifov also explained why the MRF is also demanding the resignation of President Radev, whose election he supported in the second round. The movement hoped that Radev was a “counterpoint to the political revenge of the GERB”, but now “he sees the same in the behavior of the head of state with the opposite sign.”
