An attack closed a central area of Paris. Heavily armed police officers cordoned off the streets around the former Charlie Hebdo magazine. Two people were injured in a cold steel attack. One was seriously injured.

Two suspects were arrested. A weapon was also seized, which one police officer described as a machete and another as a butcher.

Police said they were searching a suspicious package near the old newsroom. No explosives or other dangerous substances were found in it.

The French prime minister went to the scene of the attack. The anti-terrorist police unit is leading the investigation. The identity of the attackers and their alleged motives have yet to be announced.
“First, the attack took place right outside the door of the old Charlie Hebdo newsroom.” Second, the attack took place at the exact time of the terrorist trials in 2015. We have decided to investigate the crime from the point of view of a terrorist attack, as well as from the point of view that it is simply a criminal act ”Said the prosecutor Jean-Francois Ricard.
“I want to express my sincere condolences to the families of the victims, as well as to the colleagues of these two journalists. I would also like to thank the police. They got the job done quickly, “Prime Minister Jean Castex said.
No data on Bulgarians injured in the terrorist attack in Paris
There is no data on Bulgarian citizens injured in the attack in Paris, the Foreign Ministry announced.
A police operation was carried out and the area is currently cordoned off.
