Little Mehmed, who disappeared from his home in Yakoruda yesterday afternoon, was found alive and well a few minutes ago near a forest in the neighboring town of Buntsevo. It is located about 15 km from Yakoruda. There are relatives of the family in the village, but he was not with him. It remains to be seen how the child came to them.

In July 2001, four-year-old Abdi disappeared from Buntsevo.

The boy was with his parents in the mountains to collect hay. Then they left him in the car for a while and then found out he wasn’t there. Similarly, Abdi was wanted by hundreds of police and volunteers. He was found eight days later alive and well at about 2,000 meters above sea level in Rila.

His disappearance was a mystery and no one believed that such a small child could survive in the mountains without food, without water and at a temperature of approximately 1-2 degrees. It was suspected that he was kidnapped, held somewhere, and later released, but police said there was no crime.
