The exercises are planned to resolve the deployment of a military group from a coalition of countries to ensure military security in southwestern Russia. The Caucasus 2020 exercise will end on September 26 and will be led by the Russian Chief of the General Staff, Gen. Valery Gerasimov, who is also Russia’s First Deputy Minister of Defense.
