Sociologists: A new closure on COVID-19 will lead to strong protests

We have a situation where there is parity between GERB and BSP, so sociologist Evelina Slavkova from Trend Agency commented on our attitudes towards current and future candidates for power.

According to Dobromir Zhivkov of Market Links, confidence in the cabinet is declining, but we must take into account the initial positions that GERB started in 2017. “Even at the entrance, the government suffered from a lack of confidence,” he said.

Society began to pay more attention to Slavi Trifonov. Lack of protests and the entire stage and he wins because he is not there. If you are present you may lose because you may win some negatives, added Evelina Slavkova.

According to Dobromir Zhivkov, we should ask ourselves the question: “Should Slavi Trifonov be absent, because he has nothing different to offer than what is being discussed?”

Over the years, there were serious requests from him, but nothing happened, the sociologist recalled.

His public image appears as a managerial alternative because he is critical and is two in one: a strong leader with a patriotic attitude, something like Borisov and the patriots at the same time, Zhivkov noted.

According to Evelina Slavkova, voters have an affinity for new faces. “People who are not regularly in front of the polls on election day vote for him,” he said.

Regarding the rating of the different parts, Evelina Slavkova gave Maya Manolova as an example.

“When she was a deputy she had a negative rating, we remember her clashes with protesters in 2013. When she became an ombudsman, she took on a different image, but when she returned to politics, she did not have these values,” Slavkova explained.

He described Tsvetan Tsvetanov’s project as a political adventure. “We do not know to what extent it will depend on the old networks and to what extent they will be able to activate people. In the coming months, with the people announced, we will see how far there will be a break with GERB,” said Evelina Slavkova.

According to Dobromir Zhivkov, this is an interesting experiment. He described it as a new political request from a man who was involved in corruption schemes, but “Republicans for Bulgaria” has already been valued.

Both sociologists insisted that if there was another shutdown due to the coronavirus crisis, it would provoke very strong protests.

“I don’t think we will get to the point where we will close again. The question is whether a new economic scenario will develop that will bring other people to the streets,” Dobromir Zhivkov said.
