Numerous signs for defects on the “new” Blvd. Montevideo.

After almost 3 months of repairs, the asphalt pavement, as well as part of the sidewalks of Montevideo Boulevard in Sofia, are ready and as of September 15, traffic will begin on the recently repaired section. Five days later, the first defects are a fact, reports bTV.

Some of the sidewalks and curbs laid just a few days ago are already broken, and in some places there are even no tiles. Our inspection also showed that the joints are also not full and there is a gap of a few centimeters.

The municipality explained that even before September 15, they had the contractor fix the “wavy” curbs. And after an inspection, they were sent a list of other defects that they needed to remove, including broken tiles and curbs.

Although traffic has been allowed on the section, the repair of the sidewalks continues. For this reason, pedestrians are allowed in the final two lanes of the road, also as of September 15. The movement of vehicles is allowed until the construction of the curbs in the two center lanes.

Pedestrians find the traffic plan dangerous, but according to the Sofia City Council there is no danger. And in this way, both pedestrians will not “jump off the sidewalk”, and the builders will be able to “finish their sidewalks in peace.”

Repairs are expected to be completed in early October. And if other defects appear later, they will be borne by the contractor.
