He is an otolaryngologist from the Academy of Military Medicine and has extensive experience in various military missions abroad. At the start of the pandemic, he came together to help the front line in the fight against COVID-19. But from a volunteer he becomes a patient. And a new battle begins, this time for his own life. He wins it and again rushes to help other infected people, donating blood plasma.

“I don’t want to talk about horrors, I’m very human because of what I’ve been through. COVID-19 has nothing to do with the flu. Any viral respiratory illness, if it lasts more than 4-5 days, is considered complicated. With COVID-19 , the virus is not shed for almost 20 days. This miniature enemy continues to multiply, replicate and cause viral changes, “said Dr. Donchev.

He and his colleagues thought the coronavirus would pass, as waves of the flu do. However, the virus has not passed, on the contrary, it does not regress. According to Dr. Donchev, only with a viral preparation or a vaccine can we fight the virus. He shared how he recovered from the disease, despite losing 20 kilograms.

“We are not treating the virus, we are treating the consequences. They are for the lungs, kidneys, liver. Doctors are protected, and yet many specialists get sick. For me, the main reason is purely physical fatigue”, said.
