Prime Minister Boyko Borissov announced that the coronavirus pandemic has shown that there is a serious delay in the implementation of the 17 UN goals for sustainable development. His remarks came during his speech at the first Summit of the Decade on Sustainable Development, which is held as part of the General Debate of the UN General Assembly, the government press office said. The meeting takes place online.
According to Borissov, there are 10 years left to meet the sustainable development goals, and therefore a full mobilization is needed:
The pandemic has taught us that no country can do it alone. We must all do our part as a commitment to the principle that no one is abandoned. The motto of the Bulgarian Parliament “Unity is strength” is fully valid and “Bulgaria is ready to do its part, it is time to act,” Borissov told a UN summit.
