“I have always strived to be an honest and honorable person, to follow the rules and the law. And the fact that this mistake has occurred in my life does not make me a bad person,” convicted businesswoman Milena told Nova TV Miteva.

A few days ago, a Pazardzhik businesswoman received a year on probation following an agreement with the Special Prosecutor’s Office. She was found guilty of conspiracy to drain virtual currency worth more than BGN 1 million.

In 2018, Pazardzhik’s wife came under the scrutiny of CDCOC’s Cybersecurity Department. The reason: a sign from a Polish platform. The investigation against Milena Miteva and two other men is for draining cryptocurrencies.

“Some of our defendants used the accounts, having the passwords and username in the respective account. Thus, through various transaction confirmations, it turned out that they received, through numerous clicks, a huge amount of Futurocoins” , explained the prosecutor of the Specialized Prosecutor Milko Parvanov.

The businesswoman used other people’s profiles to maintain her identity. She pleaded guilty. Therefore, she received a suspended sentence, a BGN 6,000 fine and probation.

“I can’t say how virtual currencies will develop. This is something new, a new technology. Yes, some people believe that this is a new model of the payments system and the financial world. And others are skeptical,” added Miteva.

Prosecutors say they have effectively prevented damage to the Polish company. “The seized cryptocurrency available in the accounts was returned to the Polish company. Approximately BGN 3.5 million,” Parvanov commented.

Years ago, Milena Miteva was a candidate for deputy and municipal councilor, without success. Due to this investigation, she spent seven months behind bars. So she decided to study law.

“Milena Miteva is an average woman who lives in Pazardzhik and runs a private business,” she said.

According to data from the Mercantile Registry, the woman owns two companies. One of them is insolvent. Now, however, her concerns are focused elsewhere. “I felt upset not only because my three names were mentioned in media publications. My personal photos in a bathing suit appeared in some media,” Miteva said.

The case against the other two defendants of the businesswoman continues.
