In accordance with art. 27 of the Law of the National Security Service and in relation to art. 5, para. 2 and art. 13 and art. 23rd of the Regulations of the National Assembly of the Republic of Bulgaria, employees of the NSO, in close coordination with the Ministry of the Interior, forcibly expelled a group of citizens who, in violation of these provisions, refused to leave a National Assembly building protected by the OSN.

This was announced by the NGO press center on the occasion of the removal of protesters from the National Assembly building. This is what the message says:

Police in riot gear stormed a rally on Friday, removing hundreds of protesters by truck.

“The National Security Service strictly observes the law applicable to its activities and functions and the relevant statutes. The NGO will not allow it to be used for political purposes and will strongly oppose any attempt in this direction.”

The press center of the Ministry of the Interior also sent the media its position on the matter, which says:

“The information released in online news posts that” police officers forcibly expelled protesters from the National Assembly “is definitely not true. Police officers do not have the legal authority to guarantee or restore order. public in the territory of the buildings of the National Assembly, which are guarded entirely within the competence of the National Security Service.

The competences of the employees of the Ministry of the Interior are the guarantee of public order in the outer perimeter of the buildings of the National Assembly. In this sense, it is outside its powers to carry out any action to remove citizens from inside the buildings of the Bulgarian Parliament. “
