The leader of “Volya” and Vice President of the National Assembly Veselin Mareshki believes that today’s sentence of 4 years in prison for him has been deliberately handed down, “so the European report of 23 September can state that Bulgaria has already condemned with great success to the oligarchs.

Earlier today, the Varna Court of Appeal sentenced Veselin Mareshki to 4 years in prison and a fine of BGN 8,000 for threatening to demolish a restaurant in 2014 and ending the business of its owner in order to force him to pay him 10,000 BGN per month. “I think the timing of this ruling was deliberately chosen so that the European report of September 23 could point out that Bulgaria has already very successfully condemned so-called oligarchs or businessmen who
the prosecution declares it. “Obviously, I am very convenient for them at the moment; on the one hand, some declare me close to the government, because in some way I have supported the GERB initiative,” Mareshki wrote in a statement to the media.

The leader of “Volya”, who a few days ago put his signature under the GERB draft for a new Constitution without, by his own admission, reading it, claims that he did not commit any crime, but is accused of helping an illegal building was destroyed , that is, he wanted the law to be obeyed.

“I got involved in the whole story because I wanted to help a person who was crushed by people with money, with connections, with
the inaction of the prosecution. He had an extraordinary ambition to be convicted, not in this endeavor.
