Denitsa Sacheva STAFF: NOVA

The state proposes that next year’s poverty line in Bulgaria be BGN 369, which is BGN 6 more than in 2020.

The state is considering whether the BGN 50 pension bonus should continue into the winter or whether there should be a reindexing of part of the pensions. This was announced by the Minister of Social Affairs Denitsa Sacheva after a meeting of the tripartite.

“At the moment we have decided to pay supplements of BGN 50 for August, September and October. It will be discussed how the support for pensioners will continue. On the one hand, there is the possibility of continuing this supplement. On the other, it may be to propose policies active with these funds regarding the indexation of part of the pensions, ”said Sacheva.

He explained that the decision had not yet been made.

The state proposes that next year’s poverty line in Bulgaria be BGN 369, which is BGN 6 more than in 2020. According to Eurostat data, in 2019 there were more than 1.3 million Bulgarians with incomes below the line of poverty. 18.6% of the population, explained the Minister of Social Affairs.

“Regarding the methodology for determining the poverty line, this proposal that we have made is about being able to adapt the mechanism in terms of acute macroeconomic movements. We have accepted the proposals of the unions for change. That is, the Minister of Social Affairs can determine the poverty line when there is a negative GDP, and also to be able to make a change when there are more favorable conditions, when there is growth ”, he explained.

185 million BGN were paid under the 60/40 scheme, this measure contributed to the preservation of the jobs of 172,000 people. Unemployment continues to decline and is currently 7.5%, Sacheva said.

In tourism, the measure even became 80/20 and served to preserve 18,000 jobs by paying more than 22 million BGN, said Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism Mariana Nikolova.

There is an idea that 80/20 will also become a help for carriers.

“Considering the positives, compared to the previous crisis in 2009, we have twice as many jobs lost. Compared to other anti-crisis measures, this was the one that started the fastest and had the best effect as a cover. Comparing ourselves to other European countries, we found that we could have been much better. Some of what we warn about, “said BICA president Vasil Velev. According to him, the second version of measure 60/40, which runs from July 1 to September 30, is much better. And he demanded emergency anti-crisis legislation , because “pulling the water shows who was swimming without pants.”

I remind you that we supported 60/40 from the beginning, because it preserves the total amount of income, said CITUB president Plamen Dimitrov.
