A 10-year-old boy is in the hospital after receiving an electric shock on a playground. The incident occurred in Mindya village in Veliko Tarnovo on Friday. The boy touched a live fence after damaging a lamp mounted on a basketball hoop.
“At around 9pm, we received a call that Hristomir had received an electric shock. My friend and I immediately arrived at the scene,” said Nikolay Gagov, the father of the injured boy.
“A mother was next to the child and was holding his hand. I stood by her side, and a friend took out a phase meter and saw that there really was electricity in the railing, which is the base of the basketball hoop,” he added.

“Currently, the child’s condition is good. There are burns on his arms, chest and legs. Today he will be discharged from the hospital,” added the father of the injured child.
“I am sorry for what happened. I apologize to the child’s parents and relatives,” said Mindya Village Mayor Ivan Ivanov.
“I have been mayor and deputy mayor, according to the law, since 2003. Since then I have found the basket. We only replaced items and painted it years ago. There are no documents for its installation ”, he pointed out. And he added: “I think that after an incident like this, things are not as required.”
