A BMW X5 jeep exploded this afternoon in the New Belgrade district of Belgrade. A man named Strahinja Stojanovic was injured in the blast, who died two hours after being admitted to hospital. This was reported by the Serbian “Blic”.
According to initial information, there was a 45-year-old Colombian woman in the vehicle, who was injured and is in the emergency department. Her name is Sonia Suarez.
The cause of the explosion was an improvised explosive device. Police, firefighters and an ambulance arrived at the scene.
Sinister photos show the victim motionless on the road behind the jeep as the woman knelt beside him.
Witnesses say the man’s leg was cut off by the blast.
The Serbian media reveals that Sonya and Strahinja were close. The Colombian’s Instagram profile shows that the two lived in luxury and often allowed expensive trips to various resorts.
This is not the first time an attack on Strahinya. On August 11, another assassination attempt was made in the village of Galenika.
The deceased witnessed the trial for the murder of the brother of Luka Bojovic, one of the organizers of the murder of Prime Minister Zoran Djindjic.
Stojanovic has been convicted several times and was released from prison two years ago.
A witness to the blast at the scene said the blast was very strong and described it as a “terrible scene.”
“I was sitting in a cafe with a friend about 25 meters from the incident when a powerful explosion was heard. The explosion was really strong, for a moment I thought something was crashing around me. I still didn’t understand what was happening when I saw a girl moan and scream. I think she was Spanish, she didn’t speak Serbian, “the witness to the blast told Mondo.
