A 10-year-old boy is in hospital after being electrocuted while playing basketball in Mindya village in Veliko Tarnovo.
The boy was injured after touching a live railing, on which a lamppost and a basketball net were mounted.
“Most likely there was a problem with the power supply to the streetlight and the electricity passed through the railing below, which the boy grabbed,” Mindya Mayor Ivan Ivanov said, according to BNR.
The mayor gave first aid to a 10-year-old boy who had burned his hands.
The boy was admitted to the intensive care unit at St. Ivan Rilski Hospital in Gorno Oryahov with high blood pressure and low oxygen content in the blood, but his condition has stabilized.
The high voltage section is now safe.
The lighting maintenance company has removed the trouble lamp on the basketball hoop.
