AND Israel and Bahrain have agreed with the mediation of the United States to establish full diplomatic relations, said the president of the United States, Donald Trump, quoted by world agencies.
“Another HISTORICAL breakthrough today!” Trump wrote on Twitter after a tripartite telephone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the King of Bahrain, Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
Another HISTORICAL advance today! Our two GREAT friends, Israel and the Kingdom of Bahrain, agree to a Peace Agreement: the second Arab country to make peace with Israel in 30 days!

The news was confirmed by Netanyahu. “Citizens of Israel, I am pleased to inform you that tonight we will reach a new peace agreement with another Arab country, Bahrain. This agreement adds to the historic peace with the United Arab Emirates,” the Israeli prime minister said in a statement.

The three leaders issued a six-paragraph joint statement confirming the agreement. “This is a historic advance in support of peace in the Middle East,” the text says. The three leaders expressed their countries’ commitment to “a just, comprehensive and lasting solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict so that the Palestinian people can reach their full potential.”

Bahrain accepted Trump’s invitation from its foreign minister to attend Tuesday’s official signing at the White House of an agreement announced last month to establish diplomatic relations between Israel and the United Arab Emirates.
Like the Emirates, Bahrain agrees to normalize its diplomatic, commercial and other relations with Israel, including in the area of security.
The deal is a new diplomatic victory for Trump, the Associated Press notes. It was announced on the 19th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks in the United States and less than two months before the November 3 presidential election. The AP sees the deal as an opportunity for Trump to increase support among pro-Israel evangelical Christians.
Bahrain is the fourth Arab country to recognize Israel, after Egypt, Jordan and the United Arab Emirates.
Will Israel annex the West Bank?
Trump’s son-in-law and senior adviser Jared Kushner, who played an active mediating role, said Israel had reached two agreements with Arab countries in a month after making peace with just two Arab states in the 72 years since its inception. .
However, the deal is likely to be seen as another failure for the Palestinians, who have made an unsuccessful attempt to persuade the Arab League to condemn any normalization of their member state’s relations with Israel until they have an independent state. It was one of the last letters in the hands of the Palestinians at a time when peace talks remain stalled, the AP notes.
