“I think we are doing very well in Bulgaria. We made the Bulgarian version of the Swedish model. We hugged each other all summer, we walked the streets and the cases are the same, and other countries that have become very isolated, things are coming back there”. . This was stated in BTV by Associate Prof. Atanas Mangarov, Head of the Children’s Clinic of the Hospital for Infectious Diseases – Sofia.

According to him, despite all the rhetoric, what has been done here in Bulgaria is the right thing to do. “In our country, if things don’t go down, at least they are at a low level, unlike in France, Spain, Greece,” he explained.

He added that there is no statistical study that conclusively shows that there are benefits to the use of masks.

Regarding the upcoming start of the school year, he explained that isolators in schools will not help in any way.

“Two days before the onset of symptoms, a child is as contagious as when he showed symptoms. We just stress the children and give them the impression that we are doing something for their good. Children do not come from heaven, they went by bus before school, tram, subway, they were standing with other children and suddenly we isolated them ”.

According to him, when children go to school, the percentage of respiratory infections increases.

“Children communicate with each other and with their parents. If a child gets a fever and we start to do a CRP test, as well as their parents, this will lead to crazy tests and in a few weeks all the schools, or a a significant part of them will be closed “, he summarized.
