Six people were arrested in today’s protest and two are wanted, Toni Todorov, Deputy Chief of the Interior Ministry’s Security Police Department, announced on the occasion of the protests that took place this morning.
Of the detainees, three were carrying prohibited items and one without identity documents. They were taken to the regional offices.
Police said today that many stones, a 10-liter tube of colored liquid, 9-pint bottles of liquid, and metal rods were found in the City Garden and the area.
“Some of the things that we found are quite disturbing in the eventual use of the protest. We found a lot of stones that were piled up. There are also objects that were left over from the night and came here by chance,” Todorov said.
He said they still had no idea who had left the items.
“We can assume that they were left for some purpose. Most likely, some bad people want something to happen. The recordings from the cameras in the area are currently being reviewed,” Todorov added.
With the accumulated points, we are trying to overcome this. We work constantly and there is a result. We are here to protect public order, Todorov commented on the situation on September 2, when law enforcement officers dropped many bombs and cobblestones.
“Some of the protesters’ speakers are speculating about what the Interior Ministry employees are doing, but that is not correct. Everyone’s desire is to hold this protest peacefully,” Todorov added.
Nova TV suggested that the squirt guns could be filled with alcohol, incendiary liquid, or other dangerous substances.
“This was probably the reason for the police for not allowing such objects in the square,” wrote Nova TV.
