Ceca, 49, disappeared without a trace 5 years ago, the priest’s brother was arrested
A 49-year-old woman, who disappeared without a trace 5 years ago, was the victim of a brutal murder in the village of Polikraishte in Gorno Oryahovitsa.
Polikraishte Mayor Marin Todoranov talks about the life of the detainee and his victim.
The human remains and clothing, which the prosecution believes are on Ceca’s national wanted list in March 2015, were found in an external toilet nailed to a burned-out house in the town, 24 Chasa learned. The sinister find was found with the new owner of the property, who had recently bought it from a local priest. He started cleaning to restore it. He came to the outside bathroom in the courtyard, the door of which was nailed down. As soon as he opened the bathroom, he saw the human bones and called the police.
The police teams were immediately dispatched to the address. The investigation led to the alleged identity of the victim. She is believed to have been missing since February 2015. In March of that year, she was declared wanted across the country.
“They were conducting an investigation, interrogating the town. After a while, they asked again if anyone had seen her,” recalled Mayor Marín Todoranov. The cause of death is being clarified.
Very quickly, investigators located the perpetrator: Emil, 54, from the village of Polikraishte, who lived in the house of horrors until a fire broke out in the spring of this year.
The man was a loner, without permanent work, he went to help with the agricultural work in the orchards and patios of the town. He wasn’t pushy or in trouble, but he drank heavily, locals said.
“He is not local, he came to the village 10-15 years ago, probably from the village of Varbitsa. His brother, the priest Stefan, let him live on the property. The priest, his wife and their three children live at the other end of the town. A few months ago, the house caught fire. The fire brigade said the reason was a short circuit in the electrical installation, “added the mayor of Polikraishte. After the incident, Emil took refuge in another house and the priest decided to sell the property.
After the change of owner of the burned house, the mysterious disappearance of Ceca developed. He also made some money working in the gardens. They separated her from her husband, she had an older son, say the surprised villagers. They don’t know if Emil and Ceca had something in common. The motives for the brutal crime are still unclear. However, the man made confessions, confirmed by the district attorney’s office. He was processed on Monday and detained for 72 hours. The state attorney’s office is about to petition the court for a permanent arrest. Case documentation work continues.
“We will not export information for now, because important actions are being carried out in the investigation and any information can hinder them,” said Deputy District Attorney Tsani Popov. There will be an investigative experiment in the village in which the accused of the murder must indicate how he killed his victim.
